As of 7.13, MikroTik separates the older wireless package from the RouterOS bundle and renames the WiFi package to Wifi.
The new WLAN package is now part of the RouterOS package and heralds a new and exciting era for WLAN functions.
In addition, the most important WLAN functions are separated from the drivers so that less space is required on the router.
Please note that the upgrade automatically takes care of the new packages. You do not need to worry about anything if you use the “Check for updates” function.
Technically, the bundle only contains the core package with CAPsMAN, so that devices that do not have wireless cards but are only used for CAPsMAN do not take up unnecessary space.

As a result, the WiFi menu is now also displayed on devices that do not have wireless interfaces. The new package is now also compatible with more devices than before – you can even install the new package on 802.11AC devices with the ARM CPU type*.
This opens up more compatibility options with the new 802.11AX devices and even allows the devices to use both wireless packages (old/integrated + new WLAN package) in the same device, meaning you can now use a single router to run both the old and new CAPsMAN.
* See the manual for a complete list of compatible devices and more technical information about the new changes
Software upgrade PSA
Due to the introduction of a new wireless package, MikroTik would like to draw your attention to the fact that RouterOS will only display upgrades up to 7.12 if you are using an older version of the software.
You must first update to 7.12, and only then will newer RouterOS versions become available.
