Wyma Engineering had previously used a single MikroTik router in its Czech office, a popular brand in the Czech Republic that was not well known in New Zealand in the early 2010s.
As the company grew, it became clear that this device needed an upgrade.
They had an excellent experience with this single piece of hardware in terms of reliability and flexibility, so they decided to extend the brand to all our offices.
What does Wyma Engineering like about the product/service?
The MikroTik solution has allowed them to implement a much simpler deployment model compared to their previous hardware brand. This in turn has led to higher reliability and shorter implementation times.
The company recently moved into a purpose-built factory and upgraded all of its optical and wired networking hardware with MikroTik products, including switching, routing and PoE switching. The wide range of products with SFP+ and QSFP+ support was a key reason for choosing MikroTik. This allowed them to fully utilize their optical investment throughout the building.
Key benefits of this transition include:
– A simplified licensing model
– Intuitive interfaces and configuration tools
– Fast boot times
– Excellent price-performance ratio
– Hardware for enterprises and network operators
– Cutting-edge technology at an affordable price

“The MikroTik solution gave us a much simpler deployment model than the previous brand of hardware, with better reliability and faster implementation.” – Max Walford, IT Administrator at Wyma Engineering Canterbury
What business problems does Wyma Engineering solve with the product and what benefits have they derived from it?
The product has facilitated communication between sites by providing a unified and optimized core set of hardware. It has also provided secure VPNs for all inter-office communications.
It has also improved the speed of internal networking while focusing on security and reliability.
Recommendations for others considering the product:
Always check the licensing models of competitors. Products that appear to be inexpensive often come with restrictions or license requirements that can quickly negate any potential savings.
MikroTik’s straightforward licensing provides end users with the most features without limitations compared to many other enterprise-class brands.
