Introduction
The ICF-1171I series CAN to fibre optic converters are used in pairs to connect two CAN 2.0 or two CAN FD devices or networks over single-mode or multimode fibre. The ICF-1171I provides 2 kV isolation protection for the CAN interface and two current inputs to ensure uninterrupted operation of your CANbus system.
Extend the CANbus transmission path
The total transmission path of a CAN 2.0 or CAN FD system can be extended by 2 km (multimode fibre optic) or 40 km (singlemode fibre optic) with ICF-1171I converters, regardless of the CAN baud rate.
Fulfilling different communication scenarios moreeasily
Two CAN 2.0 or CAN FD networks can communicate with each other at different baud rates. The ICF-1171I converters can automatically recognise the baud rate of the connected CAN 2.0 device and apply the baud rate to themselves. Therefore, the user does not need to know the baud rate of the connected CAN 2.0 device. This is an extremely practical function. The baud rate can also be set to a predefined value using rotary switches.
Easy troubleshooting of communication problems
It is easy to check whether there is a problem on the CAN bus or the fibre optic connection. The ICF-1171I converters are equipped with LEDs that indicate the status of the fibre optic connection, the status of the fibre optic communication, the status of the CAN bus and the communication status of the CAN bus.
