8.1 technology offers a number of improvements compared to previous copper-based network solutions. Data rates of up to 10 Gbit/s are no longer sufficient in many cases. Faster fibre optic solutions are unsuitable for widespread use due to the high costs involved. Cat. 8.1 patch cables are also suitable for 25 Gbit/s and 40 Gbit/s Base-T Ethernet networks, so that several 10 Gbit/s Base-T links no longer have to be interconnected to form a single logical connection. This means fewer ports and therefore less space are needed, both of which are precious in data centres. The max. bandwidth has also increased to 2000 MHz / 2 GHz.

High-quality cable constructionThe
conductor of this patch cable consists of 99.99 % oxygen-free copper (OFC). This high-quality cable construction enables optimal signal transmission and higher breaking strength of the cable. For perfect signal transmission, the RJ45 plugs are shielded and equipped with 50 µ gold-plated copper contacts.
