The Aeon Labs Z-Wave current clamp enables the total current consumption of a residential unit to be determined inexpensively. It determines the current electrical power in watts and counts the accumulated electrical work in kWh on two phases, which are measured individually. For this purpose, hinged transformers are installed in the switch cabinet on the individual supply wires. In principle, the hinged transformers measure the electrical current from the power supply by means of a configurable voltage value and, assuming cos (phi) = 1, the power and work data. These can be queried via Z-Wave or sent automatically by radio at configurable intervals.

The device is attached to the surface with a bracket. It is connected to a socket or the 230V terminal strip with the AC cable and operated. The device has a terminal and reports W and kWH (up to max. 100 amps).
