The higher areal density results in higher capacity to meet the challenges of data growth.

20 TB1 HDDs with OptiNAND technology
OptiNAND combines iNAND® UFS EFD memory (Universal Flash Storage Embedded Flash Drive) with the proven rotating storage medium and makes innovative changes to the firmware algorithm and SoC (System-on-a-Chip). However, OptiNAND is not a hybrid technology. Thanks to improved firmware algorithms, the hard drives become smarter: they utilise the comprehensive metadata that has been moved to the iNAND so that more TPI (tracks per inch) and a greater surface density can be achieved.

The Ultrastar DC HC560 delivers an unrivalled 20TB capacity in a nine-disc platform (2.2TB per disc) with the CMR recording format with the first implementation of capacity-enhancing OptiNAND features.
