The Ultrastar DC HC570 is the 2nd generation platform withOptiNAND technology. The Ultrastar DC HC570 is the 2nd generation platform with OptiNAND technology that combines an iNAND® Universal Flash Storage (UFS) Embedded Flash Drive (EFD) with the proven spinning storage media.

Western Digital's market-leading storage density of the 2.2TB hard drive is extended to a new 10-carrier platform that offers 22TB capacity in CMR recording format. More volumes and high storage density maximise data storage efficiency.

OptiNAND improves the drive's resilience in the event of an emergency power off (EPO) by increasing the amount of non-volatile memory (NVM) available to flush critical metadata to the iNAND.

ArmorCacheâ„¢ is an OptiNAND enabled feature that combines the performance of Write Cache Enabled (WCE) mode with the data protection of Write Cache Disabled (WCD) mode to provide the best of both worlds. When operating in WCE mode, ArmorCache ensures that the DRAM cache is written safely in the event of an EPO and that no data is lost. When operating in WCD mode, the drive ensures that all user data in the DRAM is safely written in the event of an EPO. The drive operates with WCE-equivalent performance. Performance and data protection are now identical in WCE and WCD mode.

The Ultrastar DC HC570 meets the reliability requirements of modern data centres with 2.5 million hours MTBF2 (estimated). It is performance-optimised for demanding applications and workloads of up to 550 TB per year. It has security and encryption features that protect data from unauthorised access and is available as an SED version.
