WD101EFBX - WD Red 10 TB HDD, 3.5 Zoll, SATA
Powerful hard drives designed for performance, reliability and energy efficiency in small to medium NAS environments.
WD Red Plus hard drives are ideal for power user workloads and small to medium business NAS environments. WD Red Plus drives deliver the speed and capacity needed to store, protect and share growing amounts of data in mid-sized RAID-optimised NAS systems in an energy-efficient manner.
Optimised for NAS with NASwareâ„¢
Exclusive Western Digital NASwareâ„¢ technology optimises drive parameters for NAS system workloads to improve performance and reliability.Designed for continuous operation
Your NAS system runs around the clock. Highly reliable storage is therefore essential. WD Red Plus hard drives are designed for systems in continuous operation, giving users the peace of mind that they can access their data reliably.
Tested for reliable compatibility
Western Digital works with many different NAS system manufacturers to conduct extensive testing to ensure compatibility with most NAS enclosures.
Optimised for lower total cost of ownership
WD Red Plus drives consume less power (than previous models) and run cooler, lowering operating costs and reducing heat in hard-to-cool NAS enclosures.
Less power, high performance
Although they consume less power, the drives have massive bandwidth to meet the mixed performance requirements of multi-drive NAS systems.
Balanced for increased reliability
Drives without proper mass balancing can cause excessive vibration and noise in multi-drive systems, which can reduce drive life and lead to performance degradation over time. Our dual-level mass balancing technology improves smooth operation and significantly increases overall drive performance and reliability.
Desktop drives vs. WD Red® Plus
It's important to select a drive specifically designed for RAID-optimised NAS systems to ensure optimal performance and protection of your valuable data. Consider the following when selecting a drive for your NAS system:
-Compatibility: Unlike desktop drives, WD Red Plus drives are designed and tested specifically for NAS and feature NASwareâ„¢ technology, which tunes drive parameters to the workloads of NAS systems for optimal performance.
-Reliability: Desktop drives are simply not designed for the demands of a NAS environment in continuous operation. WD Red Plus drives are designed for the demanding conditions of high-density, multi-user NAS environments.
-Ready for RAID: WD Red drives feature RAID error recovery protocols to reduce failures in multi-bay NAS systems, whereas most desktop drives are configured for generic applications only.
-Noise and Vibration Protection: Desktop drives are designed for single drive operation and therefore typically provide little or no protection against noise and vibration found in multiple drive systems. WD Red hard drives have torsional vibration sensors that anticipate and proactively compensate for disturbances caused by increased vibrations, which often occur in NAS systems with multiple bays.
