WD142KFGX - 14 TB HDD, 3.5 Zoll, SATA
Enterprise-class hard drives designed for high performance and reliability in commercial and enterprise NAS environments.
WD Red® Pro hard drives are designed for high-intensity, multi-user workloads in commercial and enterprise NAS environments. WD Red Pro drives deliver the performance, scalability and reliability businesses need to store, share and use large amounts of data in RAID-optimised, multi-bay NAS systems.
Optimised for NAS with NASwareâ„¢
Exclusive Western Digital NASwareâ„¢ technology optimises drive parameters for NAS system workloads to improve performance and reliability.
Designed for continuous operation
WD Red Pro hard drives are designed to meet the demanding requirements of high-intensity NAS environments with many users in continuous operation and protect the system.
Tested for reliable compatibility
Western Digital works with many different NAS system manufacturers to conduct extensive testing to ensure compatibility with most NAS enclosures.
Protected from excessive vibration
WD Red Pro hard drives feature torsional vibration sensors that anticipate and proactively compensate for disturbances caused by increased vibration. The vibrations are distributed across the hard drive enclosure to minimise turbulence, maintain performance and protect the hard drives.
Shock protected
WD Red Pro hard drives feature a multi-axis shock sensor that detects light impacts and automatically compensates with the dynamic height adjustment of the read/write head to further protect the hard drives in the NAS enclosure.
Engineered with industry-leading technologies
WD Red Pro 22TB and 24TB hard drives feature proprietary Western Digital OptiNANDâ„¢ technology, which uses integrated iNAND embedded flash to perform key management functions, providing more capacity and improving overall drive performance.
Desktop drives vs. WD Red® Pro
It's important to select a drive designed specifically for RAID-optimised NAS systems to ensure optimal performance and protection of your valuable data. Consider the following when selecting a hard drive for your NAS system:
- Compatibility: Unlike desktop drives, WD Red Pro hard drives are designed and tested specifically for NAS and feature NASwareâ„¢ technology, which tunes the hard drive parameters to the workloads of NAS systems for optimal performance.
- Reliability: Desktop hard drives are simply not designed for the demands of a NAS environment in continuous operation. WD Red Pro drives are designed for the demanding conditions of high-density, multi-user NAS environments.
- Ready for RAID: WD Red drives feature RAID error recovery protocols to reduce failures in multi-bay NAS systems, while most desktop drives are configured for generic applications only.
- Noise and Vibration Protection: Desktop drives are designed for single drive operation and therefore typically provide little or no protection against noise and vibration found in multiple drive systems. WD Red hard drives have torsional vibration sensors that anticipate and proactively compensate for disturbances caused by increased vibrations, which often occur in NAS systems with multiple bays.
