With this Power Over eSATA to SATA 22 pin cable you can connect your 2.5 or 3.5 SATA hard drive externally to any free Power Over (eSATAp) port. This Power Over eSATA connection combines eSATA and USB in one and enables a power supply of 12 V with the help of the gold contacts on the side. This means that you do not need an additional power supply unit to operate either a 2.5 or 3.5 HDD. The cable can also be plugged into a simple 5 V eSATAp port, so that you only receive the required voltage of 5 V for a 2.5 HDD.
